“Best thing ever? I think it just may be. In 1979, a Yugoslavian car thief decided to spice up the communist city of Belgrade, and for fifteen nights, put on a show for those who would patiently line the streets and wait to cheer him on as he raced his stolen, white Porsche through the City squares and taunted police. Reasons for his actions vary, but one urban myth even says he would pick a rose for his girlfriend in the city square every night to prove his love for her. Call me old fashioned, but I kinda like the idea of a guy just trying to piss the cops off. The story ends when police strategically placed two city buses in the main square to block the Phantom. As he tried to slide between them, he smashed into a bus and totaled the car. The people, his loyal fans, were able to block the police from the scene long enough to allow the man to escape into the night.
